Best. Present. Ever

The other week something amazing happened, a mysterious box arrived and when mummy and daddy looked at it, it had come all the way from America. We know that we have some wonderful furriends in America who sent us so many cards and letters, specially for Lil P so when mummy and daddy said where it had come from there was an air of excitement. We all started to wonder what was in it, we’ve never had such a big box arrive for us before.

Mummy carefully opened it, and as she did she gasped! That just made us more excited to find out what was inside, we all gathered round as mummy very carefully picked up what was inside. I could hear tempting crinkly noises as mummy very carefully pulled out what was inside, then once the contents were out I felt it only right that I inspected the box. It’s from the kids said mummy, by the looks of it they’ve made us something quite spectacular.

Angelin is a lover of all things crinkly so she was right there with mummy as she unpacked the contents of the box, what is it? What is it? we all clamoured excitedly. Let’s see said mummy as she started to unravel the mysterious contents, what exciting things had we been sent? There were so many pieces of paper, Mummy said as she carefully started to unfold them all. Oh my gosh what have the kids made for us, it’s amazing, it just keeps going and going unfolding more and more. Each time mummy unfolded the papers there as another layer to be unfolded, she just kept unfolding and unfolding and the papers just grew and grew. Each time mummy unfolded something, she and daddy gasped a little, each fold unveiled a new little gem, a new little piece of love.

Mummy had such wet eyes as she opened the gift up, unfolding and unfolding it, looking at each and every piece, reading out all the writing. Her and daddy were just so impressed by the detail in each piece, the time and effort to draw such beautiful pictures, the consideration for how each piece fitted in with every other piece around it. The cleverness of even thinking how such a piece of artwork could be sent across the world and still look how they wanted it to look.

I could tell from the way mummy and daddy were talking that the gift we had been sent had so much love poured into it, the way mummy described it I knew that this was something special, something unique, something to cherish, something that brought love and warmth, something that was made with togetherness and thoughtfulness, making it comforting like a warm snuggly blankie.

Being a blind cat I just see things in a different way to ‘normal’ cats, I’ve always used my other senses to understand the world around me, my sense of touch, smell and hearing more than make up for my lack of eyesight and. when I’m running around, playing or adventuring outdoors. I’ve always been able to do anything I put my mind to but this time I got the feeling that my senses just didn’t seem to be able to interpret things to the same level as mummy and daddy were describing. My senses just couldn’t pick up the true beauty of what we had been sent to us. There aren’t many, if any, times in my life that I really wished I could see, that I thought that my blindness was a disability but this day was perhaps the only time when I really wished I could see so I could appreciate the true beauty of what we had been sent, the little humans tribute to our Lil P.

There’s only one way to really show you the magic of this amazing gift so over to mummy to show you this beautiful, kind, present that made us feel so special and helped us understand what an impact our Lil P had on this world in the short time we shared it with her, it shows what a special little kitty she really was. It’s a long video (no apologies for doing this the justice it deserves) so grab a cuppa, some tissues, turn the volume up and sit back and watch something beautiful unfold before your very eyes.

I’m sorry it took me so long to say thank you to my little hoomans but I just couldn’t find the words to reflect just how truly amazing and special you are. You are everything that is good in this world and we’re proud to have you as our furriends, you will always have a very special place in our hearts 💝.
