Precious moments

Sorry if we’ve been a bit quiet and subdued recently but the loss of Lil P has had a big impact on our little furramily, a much bigger impact than we ever thought. We’re not quite sure how such a little kitty who was only with us for 7 months could leave behind such a big void. I guess that’s just the gift of those special kitties that cross the rainbow bridge early, perhaps they have completed their earthly mission and are called for greater things, a new mission that only a special few can complete.

Whilst our Lil P was here as you know she captured hearts and we have been truly blessed by the love and support that we have received from our furriends all over the world. We have received some truly beautiful gift to help keep the memory of Lil P alive and make sure she is always part of our purrfectly imperfect furramily forever.

First to arrive was a beautiful painting of Precious, taken from a photo of the night mummy and daddy collected her, mummy said that it captures that very first moment she became part of our furramily. I remember that moment well, it’s the start of a new chapter, one that you don’t yet know is going to be the best day of the rest of your life. It’s also a scary moment, you’re exhausted from hours and hours of travelling, not knowing where you’re going or why, so many new faces, noises, smells and wondering when it will end. Your mind is racing until that first kind voice, gentle stroke and then you realise that the journey has ended and there is a kind person, a warm bed, a bow full of food and then you can drift off into an exhausted sleep. There’s tiredness, fear, confusion, vulnerability and then wonderment, excitement and this picture captures all of those emotions in Lil P’s face.

Will they love me? Is this my new home? What’s happening next? What you don’t know is that they already love you and that is why you’ve made the epic journey, they fell in love with you before you even met. There was that little something, that little spark that ignited something in their hearts and the rest as they say is history or is that destiny?

Then a little while later came the happy face picture, that little cheeky face with the funny, quirky tongue out, reflecting a time when there were no worries about the big C and life was carefree, she knew she was home, she knew she was loved and she knew she was furramily. This picture is all about that next chapter when things are just right. This time should have been longer but we had that time together and not everyone gets that so we all count ourselves lucky even if that time was short, we had it and enjoyed it.

Then all the way from Japan came a little box, as mummy opened it she gasped and the tears flowed once again, inside was a purrfect tiny Lil P made out of felt, mummy showed it to daddy and I heard her saying it’s even got her different colour eyes, quirky tail and little teeny ear nubs. The mini me was even wearing the special scarf that Precious was gifted from our furriends in America. Mini P is purrfect in every way, just like Lil P was and she is now in pride of place watching over us, meowmy and pawpa even took her to the pub the other day so she could see her lifetime membership of the furball Friday club plaque.

Not only did we get these wonderful gifts for us but there were also gifts that will keep Lil P’s legacy going, two wonderful donations (£65 each) to two charities that mean a lot to us, Project Paws in Cyprus who helped Precious travel to us in the UK and World Animal Friends who I was adopted through and who help animals all over the world.

These donations are greatly needed at the moment as there are so many rescuers around the world struggling for money to look after those kitties and other animals they have rescued. Without these wonderful people working away behind the scenes and spending their spare time looking after street cats the Purrfectly Imprefect crew probably wouldn’t exist as we would never have been rescued, looked after and found homes for. Our lives would have been very different without them and we are eternally grateful.

With all these beautiful gifts it was time to lay Lil P to rest, so mummy and daddy had a little ceremony out on the catio where they scattered Precious ashes in amongst the Precious Love rose that we were gifted by our kind friends some months ago. We also ‘planted’ her favourite batty wand toy in the pot with her so she will always have it to play with, it was the toy that she loved the most and when she was poorly it was the only one that could get her spirits up and get her playing. We will forever be grateful to our furriend Obi @obi.toe.beans for sending us such a wonderfully gift that provided so much happiness and good memories.

Night, night Lil P we’ll never forget you.

  1. Such a great memory of Lil P – who as you said, touched so many hearts far and wide – There is no doubt in my mind she is doing amazing things with so many amazing creatures who have been called over the bridge. For whatever reason Lil P had an even bigger job to fulfill but prior to that she did an amazing job here for so many – bringing smiles and also tears. In that she brought awareness to her furriends and creatures big or small – god loves them all!!! Bless you!!!
