I think there’s something strange going on. Last week mummy came home early and then her and daddy disappeared for hours. It had started earlier though because over a few days before some of our stuff started disappearing. First it was a couple of toys, then a scratcher, then one of the water fountains. This is very strange and we were all wondering where all our stuff was going, I thought maybe Millie was playing tricks on us blindies! Then one day I found one of the bedroom doors closed which is very strange as there weren’t any other humans around which is normally why the rooms get closed, plus it wasn’t night time, the room was closed during the day too. Oh well, never mind I thought, humans can do odd things sometimes.
Then on the day mummy and daddy disappeared when they finally came home they didn’t even stop to say hello but went straight off into the closed room. They had something with them that smelt funny as it quickly wafted past, this all seemed a little familiar and then I remembered that the very same thing happened when they brought Lil P home. Then I suddenly clicked, that strange new smell was the scent of a new brofur or sisfur. We all waited patiently and after a while mummy and daddy came out of the room and I was right, they said that we had a new little sisfur called Mona Lisa, she wasn’t a Cyprus kitty like us but mummy said that she had come all the way from Dubai. “We’ll introduce you to her in time but she’s very, very shy and so we’re going to let her settle in before we let her meet all of you”

Daddy also explained that she is going to fit right in with our Purrfectly Imperfect crew because like us she is unique and a little bit different. Sadly though as mummy and daddy started to tell us her story it was clear that whilst Mona Lisa was different, her differences weren’t due to nature or street living but sadly her differences were caused by a horrible human who mutilated her just because they could. We were all shocked by this story and it made us feel very sad and sorry for our new sisfur.
But we’re cats so we don’t feel sorry for anything for very long, we just get on with life and living and so one by one we’ve been having a little secret sniff under the door to try to get an idea of what she might be like. Millie likes to sit watching the door from a respectful distance whilst she listens to what’s going on inside. There’s a steady flow of mummy and daddy going in and out and every time they do we get a little more of a sniff, a little more of a listen and for Millie a little peek at what she looks like. Millie reported back that she definately fits in with our odd family as, from what she saw through the tiny crack in the door that mummy left open whilst she was in there, she only has one ear and at first Millie was a bit confused because she smells like a cat but she thought Mona Lisa might be a bunny because she also has no tail at all. We all decided then and there that if she is really a cat and not a bunny that her uniqueness definately gave her the necessary credentials to be part of our Purrfectly Imperfect Crew.

The introductions have been slow and I for one hate intruders in my home but we have at least all met each other, mummy and daddy have let Mona Lisa explore half the house and when she goes back in her room for a rest we can all come out and smell where she’s been exploring and we can all have a good sniff. That’s ok but I haven’t yet smelt her in the places we hang out the most, the living room, kitchen / diner, our cons club and definately not in our catio so I can be peacefully ignorant and pretend she’s not here at all and just keep out of her way. Whilst I love change and when mummy and daddy move things around I will gladly explore but I’m not the same when it comes to new furramily members and tend to freak out, skulk away and growl and shout a lot. We all know it can be done though, we did it with Millie and Angelin and with Lil P so mummy and daddy know it’ll all work out but they just want to make sure we’re all introduced gradually, each at our own pace so we get the chance to say hello bit by bit.
Millie is always the first one to say hello, she’s right there watching the door when it’s opened, she’s not bothered by new sisfurs and just wants to be furriends with everyone, offer a helping paw and show them how our home works, she’s such a mummy to us all. Little Mona Lisa though doesn’t seem to be very sure of any of us and so we’re hoping Millies charm and mumsiness will start to win her over and she’ll realise that there’s no need to be scared and we can all live together as one happy furramily. As she explores little by little she’s also starting to play with our toys and even use our litter tray! Mummy even saw her playing in her paper pile which made mummy laugh as she seemed to be having so much fun. I remember when I first joined my furramily and everything I came across was so new and exciting so I guess it’s the same for Mona Lisa too, I think she must feel like she’s in a wonderland as not even the most imaginative little street kitty could ever imagine all the goodies that you can find in a home filled with love, care and fun. That’s the magic of finding a furrever home like ours.
As mummy and daddy remind us, we never quite know what each of us have really been through, what monsters lurked in our past, what things we don’t speak about, what troubles we’ve had to overcome to get here so we all need to just be a little bit patient, a little bit lenient and give her a whole lot of respect and consideration. Whilst Mona Lisa is settling in it’s ok that she doesn’t quite follow the rules as she’s got to learn them and understand them first whilst also getting to know us too.
Well I was saying that Mona Lisa hadn’t really been in the places we spend most of our time but I take that back now as over the last day or so she’s been allowed to wander free and came to have a little look around our favourite parts of the house that we normally hang out in. Mummy and daddy are always there to watch out for us all but there have been a couple of surprise encounters and meetings that have caused a little bit of a shock to us. It’s not easy to surprise a blindie but when you’re in the litter tray minding your own business like Angelin was you’re not really concentrating on anything else and so a new kitty wandering by tends to do the trick, but it’s ok and mummy and daddy always make sure we’re ok with a lot of cuddles and play and if they think Mona Lisa is a little bit overwhelmed then she gets to have a little bit of calm time and a nap in her room. She’s much more shy that Lil P was, she just trotted around like she owned the place from the off (as mummy says a bit like me, Millie and Angelin did) but our new sisfur is different, she explores very slowly, one paw at a time and so quietly that mummy can’t hear her creep around, she only knew she was exploring the dining room coz my ears focussed intently, like when I hear birds in the bushes which is a sign mummy is so very familiar with.
I hope she settles in quickly and realises that this home is just what she, like the rest of us deserve, that it’s a good home that will treat her as she deserves to be treated, that encourages her to be whatever she wants to be and where she can dare to dream of just how wonderful life can be.
Welcome to the crew Mona Lisa.

Congratulations on the new arrival. She’s stunningly beautiful.
