When I moved to my furrever home from Cyprus all those years ago I never realised how much my life would change. I never realised what a wonderful world this could be and I certainly didn’t realise how many wonderful people I would meet from all around the world that I would come to consider my furriends.
We’ve all been feeling a bit down with everything that’s been going on with Lil sweet P, for a little kitty she’s made a big impact. We’ve still got a way to go before she’s fully part of the furramily but little by little we’re getting there, it’s just taking time, lots of time. Anyway mummy and daddy were feeling a bit low, mummy wasn’t her usual bubbly upbeat self when we were out on walkies and I knew something wasn’t quite right. Mummy took over my social media accounts to explain what was going on and that we would be taking a break for a bit to concentrate on getting Lil P better and building both hers and our confidence. Having a new kitty join our furramily has been a shock for us too and it’s especially hard to deal with that and come to terms with our new sisfur when she keeps coming and going, it’s very disruptive and hasn’t been a good start, certainly not the start mummy and daddy hoped for.
Then one day the delivery man arrived with some boxes and mummy took them saying “daddy’s been shopping again girls” daddy said “I haven’t bought anything, who are they from?” Mummy couldn’t find a name so we all inspected the boxes, they smelt good, and I meowed to mummy that I thought they might be for us girls. “Well, there’s only one way to find out” said mummy, so we all gathered round and she started to open them, one by one. It was so exciting, we were all milling around, there was a lovely waft of treats as mummy opened the first box, and then Angelin got really excited as there was so much crinkle paper she was in her element. Mummy opened the second box and that one smelt really good, so I claimed it as mine by sitting in it. “Move your bum Jen, I can’t get into it to find out what’s in the bottom, you’re sitting on what’s inside.” Then the more mummy opened, the more her voice started to change, I could hear the slight tremble, the change in pitch, mummy was getting very emotional, she sniffed and then I could tell her eyes were wet and the tears started. I gave her a little head bump and she said “it’s ok Jen these are happy tears, all this wonderful stuff is from your friends, they’ve sent us a care package.” Mummy had found a little note in one of the boxes, she read it out to us
“From Carmel and friends xx”
“A calming bed for Precious & goodies for you all to enjoy!! Healing purrs from a group of cat friends on IG from Carmel and friends xx”

Well, that was it mummy was away blubbering and even daddy was lost for words. Meanwhile everything was spread over the living room floor and we were fighting over the crinkly catnip butterfly 🦋 toy and generally making mischief thinking that catmas had come early. There was so much in those wonderful boxes, a huge snuggle bed for Precious, a four way crinkle play tunnel, regular treats, kickers, calming treats, churu which mummy says is like our lick-e-lik and even some chocolates and relaxing bath smellies for mummy. There was so much stuff and so much love in that box we really didn’t know what to say.

Then over the next couple of days more boxes arrived, first here was a lovely mug for mummy to drink her tea from (she’s so English), then a voucher which daddy used some of to buy a little machine that blows mist for Precious to help try to clear her blocked nose and then a big box arrived, this one smelt different, it smelt of the garden and I was right, when mummy opened it inside was a plant, not just any plant though, mummy said it was a rose for the garden, now I like roses (except when I jump into them by mistake when chasing birdies) as they smell pretty and delicate but mummy said this wasn’t just any rose it had a name and it was called ‘Precious Love’ well that was it, mummy was off again, she was mumbling between tears about how someone has put so much thought and effort into this and how on earth did they find such a purrfectly named rose. She put it in pride of place in our catio where one of us promptly had a little dig in the pot and spread some of the soil over the catio, just to check it was ok you know. That kitty shall remain nameless.

Since then we’ve been enjoying all our goodies and Precious just loves the crinkle play tunnel, she’s really been going for it under the watchful eye of Millie of course. I don’t quite know what she’s doing with that tunnel but she’s noisy, really, really noisy, all I hear is pawsteps then crinkle, then bam, bam and crinkle, then more pawsteps and more crinkling. I feel very sorry for that tunnel as it sounds like it’s getting more beaten up than played with! Then after so much energetic (and noisy) play she settles down for a nap in the snuggle bed, mummy said she was a bit wary of it at first but then as she slept she gradually worked her way onto it one paw at a time, before she knew it she was pretty much completely snuggled up for a good nap.

I also helped cheer mummy up by having a little game of hide and seek with her, she was looking everywhere for me, hunting in all of the beds we’ve got everywhere, in the cons club, out on the catio, she hunted high and low before she eventually found me hiding in the box the rose came in, it was the purrfect hiding place.

I’m still very unsure of my new sisfur but we are all making progress and Millie and Angelin are getting closer and closer to Lil P and she seems to realise that they’re not anything to be scared of. Yesterday mummy was quite excited because the three youngsters were all eating together and are also starting to play near each other too. Me, I’ll take a bit longer to come round but we’ll get there.

I’m not sure what we’ve done to deserve such special furriends, we’re just four purrfectly imperfect rescue kitties living our best lives, not doing anything special at all. But now I realise what wonderful people there are in this world and how lucky we are to have found them and become furriends with them even though we’ve never met each other. It’s more than that it’s a community, a community that genuinely cares for each other, looks after each other, understands each other and loves each other. This is a community that I’m proud to be part of.
Oh and happy birthday daddy 😺
