Well, Precious has been busy making herself at home, mummy and daddy had to take a few steps back with the introductions and so we had a few nights when Precious was given her own room for the night, leaving us some time to just chill out and relax a bit, time to just reset ourselves and have what we know to be our regular family time. I feel a bit better about this and it gave me some time to roam the house in peace, run on my wheel and have playtime with mummy and daddy. Those few extra nights peace and quiet has made a big difference. Along with, of course my one on one walkies time with mummy everyday.

I kind of get that she’s here to stay and though I’m still not happy about it but I no longer feel completely threatened in my own home, just a bit upset and uptight but well , that just how I am really. Now I’m just down to growling, hissing and running away. At least we can be in the same room together and I don’t run very far, just up onto the windowsill or the cat perch to get a better vantage point and keep a repspectful distance. Once she’s walked past I’m all back to normal like nothing has happened so there’s definate progress but it’s slow and steady. Angelin is getting there too, she’s a bit more curious than I am, she goes up and has a little sniff of Precious, then takes a couple of steps backwards, a little hiss to show who’s the boss and off she poddles to go catch some flies, Angelin is our chief fly catcher and being in the countryside now she’s really got her work cut out for her, she’s constantly on the go catching those pesky sky raisins!
The thing that puts me off a bit with Preciousis that she’s just so noisy! Now, I know Millie can be a loud mouthed ginger at times and we often have to duck and cover as she goes meowling at full speed round the house like a crazy thing and that I have my moments too but Precious is on a whole other level. Mummy and daddy aren’t sure if she just had to shout for attention when she was living in the chattery or if that’s just the way she is, either way purrlease send ear plugs or I’ll have to start getting mummy to tie one of my bandanas over my ears!

The thing that confuses me and Angelin is the noises she makes, it kind of sounds like she’s growling at us all the time, then that goes into a grrrow, grrrow and it’s really confusing. From there she builds up to a full on yeowl fest as she walks around the house just shouting for no reason. If she was just a bit quieter then we might just have the chance to figure out just what she is as she doesn’t sound quite like any cat I’ve come across. Mummy thinks that her (as she calls them) cute grumbles sound different because of the way her nose is now and that the purring sound just comes out a bit odd, she thinks it’s endearing- I just think it’s not very cat and I don’t understand why she just growls at us all the time.

It seems like the neighbourhood boy cats like Precious, when I go for walkies I can smell them all on our patio and mummy and daddy have seen them hanging out as well, they’re probably curious about this loud cat that makes strange noises. She’s also making herself very well known as she’s leaving her scent everywhere and by scent I mean she’s peeing everywhere, our kitty beds, mummy’s nice squishy beanbag, the toy box, everywhere! Mummy is very clever and put all the signs together and realised that little Precious is in heat, she had been told that she was a spayed lady like us but as it turns out she wasn’t! Mummy got in touch with the vets in Cyprus and they said they didn’t actually neuter her as planned as one of her operations took longer than it should have so she couldn’t be ‘done’ at the same time. So, as much as I’m not too keen on her just yet the poor girl has to go back to the v-e-t for another operation. Mummy and I have talked about Precious’s story so far and having gone through a lot myself when I was young I do get how much she has had to cope with and go through in her short life so far, I pity any animal having to go to the v-e-t so I do empathise with her. Hopefully once she’s joined the spayed ladies club she might quieten down a bit and we can start to get to know her a bit better.
Millies making progress though, her and Precious share a love of sunbathing and bird watching so they can often be found curled up in mummy and daddy’s room watching catflix together and catching some rays. Don’t worry though mummy and daddy keep a close watch on how much sun Precious gets as we don’t want her to get poorly again. Daddy makes sure that if she’s chilling out in the cons club (mummy edit: the cons club is our conservatory) that the blinds are closed so she can enjoy the warmth without the sunshine and our catio only gets the sunshine in the late afternoon and has some nice shaded areas to make it safer for all of us.

It’s a really slow process for a blindie to get to know a new sisfur and with their being two of us it’s an even slower process. Bit by bit though we’re getting there and mummy and daddy are being really patient and not rushing things, they’re letting us each go at our own pace. At least now I’ve moved on from the Jenny screaming phase to the Jenny grumble and groan phase and soon we might be able to move on to the next phases and start to be a furramily. Mummy and daddy do keep saying that Precious isn’t going anywhere and she’s here to stay so I guess I’ll have to get used to her sooner or later.
