I’m famous!

Wow! What a week it’s been. It turns out that I’m a local celebrity and people want to come and meet and greet me. As it turns out mummy had been plotting behind my back and that’s the reason she’s been taking me with her to the pub. She’s secretly been planning with the lady at the pub to have a cat friendly day at the pub, they already have a ‘Furball Friday’ day and had always said they are pet friendly but mummy decided to tested their full pet friendliness as most places who say they are pet friendly really just mean dog friendly. When mummy asked them what would happen if she wanted to bring me along much to her surprise and delight they said of course and what can we do to help me get acclimatised to these new and unusual surroundings. That was the exact point in time when the ‘Monkhill Moggies’ day was born.

As you all know by now, one of my big aims with having my blog and social media accounts is to show what us blind and purrfectly imperfect cats can do, that we’re not here to be pitied for our differences but to be celebrated and loved. To show that adopting a special needs kitty is something to be proud of and that we can be part of a family as we have so much love to give. During one of our walkies mummy and I discussed this together and she said it would be a great way to show off how awesome I am and that just because I’m blind it doesn’t mean that I can’t do the things other cats do, in fact I can do a lot more than other cats can, we still haven’t met any other kitties whilst we’re out on walkies, nor when we’ve been chilling in the pub. Mummy also said that maybe we could also raise some money for charity too and help even more cats find their forever home just like we have and just like Precious will. Oh by the way have I told yew I’m getting a new little sisfur soon? She’s from Cyprus too and she’s special like us, she’s been very poorly and had to have her ears and nose removed so she looks a bit quirky. How she looks doesn’t matter to a blindie like me and I hope she’ll be the purrfect addition to our already imperfect furramily.

Everyone meet Precious

Anyway I thought it was a great idea, I get to chill with meowmy and meet new people (although that’s a bit scary) and explore the pub again. What I didn’t expect was that this would be something that people would want to read about, something mummy calls a feel good story. Well mummy was right, apparently people do like reading about me and mummy spoke to someone called a reporter who wrote a story about me and put it on the internet and even in the local paper. Mummy was unusually excited on Caturday morning when she went onto the internet and there it was, a whole article just about me! Then later on mummy and daddy went out and when they came home they said “You’ll never guess what Jenny, you’ve got a full page three spread in the paper! We thought was going to be a small section at the back of the paper but no, it’s a whopper and there you are in full colour right at the front of the paper. Isn’t that just amazing, you’re a superstar and a page three girl now!”

So on Monday evening mummy and I packed up our stuff and headed for the pub to meet my fans, mummy even made a cake to sell to help raise money for the charities. I think mummy’s idea of a cake might have out some people off and I can only apologise for her terrible sense of humour. It was a quiet night up there but that was ok as I got the chance to chill out and we also explored the garden. Mummy live streamed our visit to all my furriends around the world who couldn’t come and join us this time and I hope they enjoyed being part of the event with me even if mummy did embarrass me by live streaming me having a pee in the garden but when you’ve gotta go you’ve just gotta go! Next time mummy just point the camera the other way please, a girl needs her privacy. Here’s the video in case you wanna watch my evening in the pub.

Mummy’s idea of a fun cake!

It was a fun few hours out and I always ways love spending time with mummy but when we got home I was pooped.

Because I’d been such a good girl at my meet and greet mummy took me for a special walkies in the woods later in the week. I love going to the wood but last time we went there were a lot of doggies walking as well and whilst they were all really good and well behaved it meant I wasn’t really up for exploring much. This time though the woods were quiet and we had them all to ourselves with the exception of two dogs, one right at the beginning and the other right at the end. That meant I was confident enough to have a really good walk and explore, in fact mummy and I were having such a good time we walked all around the short walking path , we crossed the stream which I remembered from last time and it was just a magical place to be and share with mummy. There was so much to listen to, so much to smell, each time we come here the place smells different which is really exciting. I wasn’t even put off by the cows in the field this time with their weird munching and huffing noises, I just pottered on past them whilst they looked at me probably wondering what a cat was doing on a lead going for a walk in the middle of the wood. “See ya later” I meowed as I went past them. There was one really big tree I could hear in the distance and I was straining at the lead to get to it to explore but mummy was being mean and said that here was no way on earth I was ever going to go and explore that tree. Now that unusual for mummy as I’m normally able to win her round eventually but she sounded very adamant and it was a full on proper no with the stern voice to go with it. Maybe you can tell me why she was being so stubborn this time as I just don’t get it!

I wanna climb that tree mummy

Anyway we carried on our walkies and I got to explore some of the other fun places in the wood, I chased a couple of brave birdies who ventured down onto the path and we had such fun just being at one with nature, surrounded by trees and bushes to explore. Mummy doesn’t let me stray too far off the path as she’s says we must respect the woods and make sure that we leave it the way we found it as there’s lots of other animals that live here hidden away from our view that might get upset if we trample across their homes. I did leave a little deposit behind but I’m a clean girls and buried it well so no-one will ever know shhh don’t tell anyone purrlease.

Then all too soon it was time for mummy to rather clumsily put me into the backpack as we were nearly back to the beginning and I was starting to get a bit tired, I’ve only got little legs you know. Then we headed for home, dinner, bath and bed followed by dreams of large Forrest’s to explore and giant trees to climb.

It was also a big week for little Angelin who celebrated her 4th birthday last weekend. We celebrated with her favourite dinner of tuna and she got a new crinkle stick to play with which is her most favourite toy. I know that doesn’t sound like much to you but really we want for nothing and so just having our favourite dinner to eat and toy to play with us all we really need to enjoy our special day. Angelin was so happy to spend hours and hours playing with her new crinkly toy that she even got her big fuzzy happy tail on! That’s when you know she’s really excited and enjoying life to the fullest. Happy birthday little sis.
