Another exciting week and excuse to celebrate, this time it’s mummy’s birthday. As you all know I love mummy very much, she’s my best buddy and so I wanted to make sure she had a very special day. I started it off by singing to her as soon as I woke up, I know the human tradition of singing a songs on special occasions so I sang the song of my people as soon as I woke up. I know she liked it as she woke up saying JENNY! JENNY! So I got the gang together and we all went to wish mummy happy birthday in bed. I thought it would be nice for mummy to stay relaxed in bed for just a little bit longer so I asked Peppar to stay in his usual spot on mummy’s pillow, keeping her head nice and warm and cosy. Then I got Millie and Angelin to walk and run (well in Angelin’s case poddle) up and down giving mummy a nice massage with their paws. I can’t think of a better way to wake up on your birthday.

Sadly mummy had to work during the day so couldn’t spend all day playing with us which would obviously have been the best birthday present of all time. I did my usual and kept her company, making sure she knew that it was her special day. In the morning after mummy spoke to her screen colleagues daddy made her some breakfast and we helped mummy open her cards. Of course we made sure that it was as much fun as possible and made a fun game of it. We sit on the cards and only let mummy take one at a time, then as she takes the next one from under my bottom I scatter the old paper covers all over the floor.
Mummy got some lovely flowers, they smell just like the outside and they filled the flat with their strong, powerful scent. Mummy put them high up, apparently out of our reach so we don’t munch on them, every time she walks past them she gave them a big sniff and her movement walking past released a fresh burst of scent. I love flowers but that wasn’t all mummy got, she got a strange thing which I couldn’t quite figure out, it made a strange noise, like nothing I’ve ever heard before, I tried every which way to get close to it to figure out what it was. It didn’t smell of anything just made a strange kind of dull boing, doing noise. No matter what I did I couldn’t quite get close enough to suss it out, even when I stretched my neck as far as I could, mummy laughed and said I looked like a giraffe! Then daddy picked me up and took me close to the ‘balloon’ which must be some kind of magical being as he said it floats in the air! I had a good sniff and listened to it, turns out it wasn’t very exciting after all and certainly not worth trying to eat. Anyway mummy likes it so I’ll leave her to play with it.

Mummy and I had a special extra long walkies in the evening and then I was mummy’s bath buddy whilst she ordered some dinner. Dinner from the bath, now that’s a special birthday! She said it was a special treat to order food in so only for a proper celebration, even if it was just pizza 🍕. JUST PIZZA! That’s my most favourite, ever of all time but before I could say anything she said “ it’s ok Jenny I’ve ordered your favourite one, the one with the olives on and you can have all of my olives if you want.” Oh how exciting is this, it’s mummy’s birthday but I get my most favourite food, yum! Thank you mummy I purred as I gave her little head bumps from the side of the bath.
Later on mummy opened another of her presents, I was asleep and heard a loud ‘POP’ and mummy giggling, daddy took her ‘special’ glass out and as I came through to the kitchen I could hear a delicate fizzing sound coming from mummy’s glass. Cheers she said to daddy and took a sip and another and then another sip…mmm she said. Hang on mummy what’s this? I meowed and so she bent down towards me and said “You won’t like this Jen Jen but you can have a sniff” I put my nose into the top of mummy’s glass and oooh what was that? Something popped on my nose, then again, ooh that tickles. “That’s the bubbles Jenny” mummy explained, “careful it’ll make you want to sneeze if you get too close” and it did make my nose tickle and nearly made me sneeze…no I don’t like that at all, you don’t need to share that with me mummy, keep it for yourself.
Mummy’s special day just wouldn’t be complete without a lap cuddle. Just when mummy was thinking of going to sleep and thought she wasn’t going to get one I snuck through and gently hopped up on her lap and snuggled down. Mummy said to daddy “well, I guess we’ll just have to stay up a bit longer as I can’t not have a birthday lap cuddle” so daddy got up and poured mummy another glass of bubbles and I stayed there on mummy’s lap with her gently stroking me. Happy birthday mummy I purred.
