Another week home with mummy and daddy.

It’s been another odd week, mummy and daddy are still at home but we’re getting used to all being together all the time. I still go each morning to the door to say goodbye to them in case they are going to work, I sit in front of the door just to remind them it’s time to go in case they have just forgotten, if they aren’t going then if I sit and shout loud enough mummy might just take me for walkies instead. Unfortunately they don’t go to work and I don’t get walkies either, it’s just not fair. Mummy says we can still only go out once a day and so if we went out in the morning then we wouldn’t be able to have our evening time together when all the birdies are flying about getting ready for bed and making my walkies so much fun. She says we should try to keep to our normal routine that we had before she and daddy were spending all the time at home. So instead I do my rounds, make sure mummy is working, check the balcony and then have a little sleep, it’s still strange having them around disrupting my day and hearing all the noise they make all the time but I suppose I’ll get used to it eventually. Much like anything it takes a bit of time to adjust to new situations.

As I said last week we’re trying to keep mummy and daddy entertained so we just decided to do something a bit silly whilst they were home just to make them laugh. We secretly organised ourselves by age on the scratching post on the back of the living room door. When they came in they were amazed and we stayed there just long enough for them to record the event with a photo. We really did make them laugh and we really did do it all by ourselves – we wouldn’t have stood for it if it wasn’t all our idea or if mummy and daddy had tried to put us in those positions – no way, we did this because we wanted to 😸

We had a bit of a laugh and organised ourselves by age!

We did have some proper fun this week though, it was Millies 2nd birthday so we had a little pawty for her, we couldn’t have all our friends round but we had our own little celebration 🥳 for her. Mummy made us some chicken and we had a celebration feast followed by Millie playing with her favourite nobbly ball toy all evening. She might only have three legs but she is fast as lightning when she gets going. Sometimes we girls try to join in but she’s just too quick for us, when she’s going full speed I’ve found it’s best to just try to stay out of her way, once she’s got her eye on the ball that’s all she’s focused on so it’s at your peril if you get in the way! Angelin practices her hunting skills trying to pounce on Millie as she rushes past, sometimes she gets her but mostly she misses coz Millie is so quick. Catching fast moving prey is very difficult for a blind cat, you have to understand how far away the prey starts off, how fast it’s going and then predict where it’s going to be when you do pounce. It’s all very complicated calculations going on in a split second. I’m pretty good at it but Angelin hasn’t quite mastered it yet but she’ll get there with practices and then it’ll be “watch out Millie”! It was so nice to have something fun to celebrate, even if it was only for a short while.

Mummy made a funny picture of Millie celebrating her birthday. I think she’s gone a bit daft with being at home all day!

It’s going to be difficult to stay in so much when the weather is getting nicer, I know from our evening walkies that the sun is out longer and the sun is shining more brightly than over the last few months. I can feel the warmth on my fur and hear more animals out and about when I’m exploring. I can smell more scents and some flowers are starting to come out which means the buzzy bees 🐝 are also out for me to chase. Mummy says I need to be careful through as I don’t want another nasty sting. As we can only go out once a day I make the most of every walkies, making sure I go as far as I can every time, chasing everything and running around as much as I can. There’s only one chance to get all my zoomies done outside in the fresh air.

We have also been using our natural talents to try to get mummy and daddy to do some stretching to keep them fit and healthy whilst they’re staying home. We’ve been showing them our yoga and pawlates skills in the hope they’ll join us in exercising. Peppar demonstrates his balance and flexibility, the pose opens up the hip joint which is good after sitting all day. It stretches the spine and realigns the shoulders after hours of typing on the work machine on the dining room table.
