I want to share my story to help you humans understand what life is like as a blind cat and hopefully show you what amazing pets special needs cats (and other animals) make.
I would love to hear from any other special needs pets or their owners, anyone considering adopting or rescuing a blind cat or anyone who just wants to share their stories or get any advice.
I was fortunate to live with a one-eyed Siamese, a Scottish Fold that we adopted as an older cat who was diabetic, a three-legged kitty who lost her leg to an unfortunate accident at home, and a discarded ginger cat who developed urinary crystals and was such a dear when given his organic OJ twice a day to help dissolve them. But then, like humans, each cat comes with his or her own challenges. I have deeply loved them all.
When I lost Diego to a tumor, I was very open to adopting a special-needs kitty from the shelter where I volunteered. Although not special-needs, Ramses and his brother had a really tough start in life. I wanted another black cat. I know they are the last ones to be adopted and Ramses fit the bill. He actually chose ME. I think he knew I needed to be rescued as much as he did (perhaps more so).

Oh thank you so much for adopting a rescue kitty and taking on the challenges of us purrfectly imperfect cats as well. And yes I think it’s us that choose our humans as much as the other way round.

All of the kitties I have lived with over the years have all been adopted or rescued.
BTW, there is no such thing as an imperfect cat…
“The smallest feline is a masterpiece.”
“A cat is nature’s beauty.” – French proverb
“God’s masterpiece is cats.” – Amelia Kinkade
I’m sure you would emphatically agree with all of the above.
